Gastro Mania in Portland

Unexpected find! This place is on the smaller side, but it is such a gem with Mediterranean food that is delicious. They have a selection of kombucha, beer, and wine. I'm so happy I found this place and will be back.

This is one of my new favorite lunch spots. The place is a very non assuming joint that offers a range of different options but the main theme is American Mediterranean. The yellow rice here is one of the best rice I have had in Portland. It's light and fluffy yet all the grains are separated and it doesn't feel mushy. The meats have a great sear on them. It feels like your eating a home cooked meal

I go out of my way from SW Portland for the food here, even on a weekend lunch run. The shrimp burrito with the squid ink rice is one of those dishes that I'll forever eat. And I hope it never goes away.

Oh this was good, very good. We had the shrimp taco and the seafood special salad. The marinades were tangy and flavorful and salads dressed perfectly. Perfect weather for lunch on the sidewalk tables didn't hurt either.

Great spot for a Mediterranean lunch plate. The portions are quite generous for $10. I ordered the lamb and beef and my wife ordered the shrimp. Both plates were full of flavor. For a fast casual lunch at a fair price, this place is hard to beat.

Food smells great but poor customer service which is sad because I had such high hopes.

I don't know if something changes recently but I didn't have a great time here. I got the lamb and pork gyro and honestly, I've had better from literally every gyro place I've been. The sauce was tastless and the meat was bland and tasted more like unseasoned pork with not even a hint of lamb. At least the lettuce and the bread were nice but I'd rather get my gyro anywhere else.

Food is as good as it gets Mediterranean style. Octopus was tender and succulent. Squid rice had just the right amount to add richness without being heavy. Honestly the food was high end in a small little restaurant. New favorite downtown.

Probably the best Mediterranean food I've eaten outside the Mediterranean. Can't say enough about how good the chef salad is. Every meat is cooked to perfection. The tuna, salmon, prawns and octopus were perfect.

Had their Chef's special salad today. It came with little portions of shrimp, salmon, tuna and octopus. Plus rice in squid ink, salad greens and pita slices. All the meats were well done and tasty, and the sides complemented them. Overall, I was very satisfied with their signature dish!

I just had a lamb and pork gyro for lunch. I'm still in a peaceful state of bliss from the flavor :)

Get the burrito!!! I used to always get the chicken plate, which is delicious, but the burrito is where it's at.

Awesome Food! Comforting atmosphere. Cozy spot. The owner and his staff are great. Will be a usual spot in the neighborhood.

Wow. In this little unassuming space there's an explosion of middle eastern flavors. I had the gyros and it was incredible. I don't normally eat lunch but I couldn't stop myself from polishing that gyros off. Yummm.

My husband got the lamb shank and he said it was one of the best lamb shanks he in a long time. He highly suggest it if you like lamb. I got the chicken plate it was very good. Very spicy tho next time I'm going to ask with no spice because it over took the taste for me. Overall very tasty, great service, great atmosphere!! Not very spendy for what you get to!

GastroMania is a good choice for lunch. Highly recommend their Ahi Tuna salad with squid ink rice. The breakfast burrito is also a very good option. Today it will be shrimp burrito though.

This restaurant is one of my favorites! I’ve been here several times and the food and service never disappoint. I almost always get the salmon gyro plate, and the salmon is reliably cooked to perfection and everything else on the plate - hummus, pita, salad, rice - is also delicious. Huge portions and excellent prices. I am bummed by the fact that they recently switched to using “100% recyclable” paper plates (you can’t recycle food-soiled paper plates) instead of reusable ones which they say is to reduce overhead costs and to save water(?), which doesn’t seem to make much sense, and even still it’s extremely wasteful.

Absolutely love this place! You get so much food for the price. Love the chicken plate!

So yummy!!! Big portions & lots of yummy options. The wine wasn't that great but the food made up for it. Tiramisu was super yummy!!!

The food is great, delicious. The best gyro in town, I think.They seem to close whenever they want though so do NOT believe the open hours listed on google (or on their front door). i got there at 4:30 when they were supposed to close at 8:00, but they just looked at me through the door like "uh, sorry". This is a 5 star place, but i have to give it 4 stars because you cannot believe the hours they list.

The picture says it all, this was the first place we stopped off at after arriving in Portland. After 5 hours in the car we needed a solid meal and this was perfect. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. The line was almost out the door when we arrived and we only waited maybe 15 minutes for our food once ordered. They also had kombucha on tap which we will try next time we’re there.

This place is my new go-to place for weekend brunch. They have excellent Greek food, and not just the usual gyro that's staple of Mediterranean/Greek joints. The octopus salad, lamp shank and bacon wrapped dolmas are must trys.

Excellent. Had dolmades and a tuna salad and both were excellent. The tuna steak was cooking perfectly and had great texture. The value is also great. Will be back for a gyro.

This place is amazing. The food is top quality, well made, and the portions are generous. Service is always good and the staff and owner are friendly and you can tell they care.

My favorite gyro in town, and their other plates are all really good too. The other one shown is their salmon salad....and as you can see, you get a REAL piece of salmon. I've worked nearby for 5 days, and have been there 3 times already haha. Fair price too for all the flavor.

So happy to found this gem! I got the Chef's Special which is a little of everything: shrimp, octopus, salmon, and tuna. I tried to substitute the octopus for chicken, however the owner resisted. He said, "The octopus is our signature dish. I would highly recommend you try it. If you don't like it I will refund it myself." With such confidence, how could I say no?! OMG...so glad I didn't! It was spectacular. Tender and fresh, in fact all the seafood was cooked perfectly. Tuna seared with a little pink, shrimp not over done, and the dressing on the salad was simply delicious, the rice was made with squid ink, and the rustic bread was toast perfectly. I will be back again for sure! And very soon.

I am a fan of the Multnomah Village location that closed. Loved going there for a bite with friends and a martini. Wondering if you will open another cafe like this. perhaps in the NW. I have a large group that would be there at least once a week. The group has been meeting for 40 yrs and began with PSU profs and has continued ever since.

Usually going here for when I feel like getting some gyros. No fuss and easy take out. Wish they opened later but that's ok as I usually have this for lunch.

First things first, Jesus is the GOAT. Gastro Mania is one of the best lunch spots in Portland. Their octopus,salmon, and lamb dishes are unmatched. Highly recommend

This place is for hungry people. If you are hungry, look no more Gastro Mania Deli is the place to quench your hunger with rich flavorful food. I got there a brisket sandwich with caramelized onions. It was amazing. But not as amazing as an octopus salad my wife ordered. It is a real gem and a signature dish of that place. I don’t know how long they massage that octopus but it was the most lender octopus I’ve tried in years.The portions are generous so it will be plenty. I took a half of my sandwich to go. So if you’re hungry for rich and flavorful meal, go to Gastro Mania you won’t be disappointed.

This was an unexpected gem of a find. Everything was delicious. The lamb and pork gyro was amazing. Sauce wasn’t overpowering. Everything was well balanced. The bacon wrapped dolmades were the best part. My partner got the lamb plate. I’ve never had rice so good. Service was excellent.

Gastro is a favorite among my coworkers and I. This once food cart turned brick and mortar is a great spot to grab lunch to go or dine-in. The interior space is small and not great for groups, but when it's sunny and warm and you can sit outside it can be quite nice! The food is honestly phenomenal, great flavor and you get a ton for the price. I 10/10 recommend!

Disappointing; the food is bland, who came up with Beef Risotto??? Well, Portland truly is weird. That's all.

by far one of the best gyros you will have in portland. Also great safron rice. Their octopus salad is very tasty and they do a really good job with seasoning their food

The food at this place is amazing! Also the ambiance is cozy!
